Siemens Water Technologies adds fieldbus capability to measure and control systems

  • Published: 06/07/2009

SIEMENS Water Technologies says its SFC, MFC and Depolox Pool measuring and control systems are now fieldbus-capable.

According to Siemens Water Technologies, its complex plant measuring and control systems can now be connected to plant level PLC systems via optional fieldbus modules.

Siemens Water Technologies says this can reduce the overhead wiring required, and caters for a greater number of read and write functions when compared to the previous 4-20mA outputs used.

The Siemens measuring and control devices currently support Profibus DP and Profinet IO, as well as Modbus TCP.

For SFC systems, the optional fieldbus module is integrated inside the systems’ enclosure as a piggy-back electronic board or can be retrofitted later. For MFC and Depolox Pool systems fieldbus converters are available that can either be DIN rail mounted for incorporation in a control cabinet, or in a separate external enclosure.

The device connected to the fieldbus is detected automatically, and fieldbus parameters can be assigned in the measuring and control system’s user menu.
