KMT Robotic Solutions has released a robotic routing system said to reduce cycle times for trimming thermoformed, injection moulded and rotationally moulded parts.

The RT-1002 is a turnkey robotic router trimming system, said to work faster than a 5-axis computer numerical control (CNC) system. The manufacturer claims it has enhanced trimming flexibility, productivity, uptime and safety.

The system can be used on polymeric parts produced by thermoformers, plastics moulders and composite manufacturers for a range of industries.

According to the company, most users implement robotic routing applications through tool paths generated in computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software. The routing system therefore uses TrimPro and CamPro software.

The software allows users to create programs offline, build virtual work cells, and simulate and optimise the cycle times of existing cells, without having to build a prototype or bring the system out of the production line.
