ABB Robotics and ESAB have created a robotic welding system touted by the companies as the ultimate system with unrivalled performance.
The robot combines ABB’s robotic technologies and expertise with ESAB’s Aristo Mig 5000i power source to provide better control over the welding processes.
The new welding system is said to reduce cycle time by as much as 15%, cutting unplanned downtime by up to 75% to enhance productivity.
Welding and cutting company ESAB’s Aristo Mig 5000i series was designed specifically for ABB’s welding robots. It features an integrated interface for robotic MIG welding of materials used in the metal fabrication industry.
The robotic system supports robotic short arc, spray arc, pulsed arc and rapid arc welding operations. ESAB has also integrated its SuperPulse technology which is said to offer better control.
The system features digital communication between the power source and the robot controller to minimise spatter at high welding speeds, a single control interface for both components to speed up setup time and reduce human error. It also has 300 pre-programmed synergic lines, with the possibility of custom programming.
