AUTODESK has announced the next generation of its AutoCAD software, with user interface enhancements and other streamlining features.
According to the company, the 2009 version of the software solutions will have an improved user interface. AutoCAD 2009 will have a new task-based user interface, which is said to be a first in computer-aided design (CAD) applications.
Task-based user interfaces, also known as the “ribbon interface”, changes visible options according to their relevance to the current workspace or task. Tooltips and user help documentation are also said to have been improved.
The company also claims the new version will also have automation tools which do not require programming knowledge and new 3D navigation tools. The Action Recorder will let users record their drafting tasks to be “played” repeatedly without any software programming.
According to Autodesk, AutoCAD 2009 will be compatible with both 32- and 64-bit Windows Vista.
