IFS has released a fully-integrated Eco-footprint Management tool to help businesses and factories cut cost and carbon emissions, and meet impending environmental regulations.
According to the company, the tool will give companies control and transparency over the environmental impacts of their operations. It will also provide an enterprise-class methodology to help control costs and comply with environmental legislation.
The tool will be added to the IFS Applications software suite, and will exploit the existing abilities to capture financial cost to monitor carbon monoxide, lead, sulphur and other emissions. The technology can be configured to capture environmental impact information from throughout clients’ operations.
Customers can track the impact of a range of activities from raw material sourcing to product design to logistics and emissions. The developers claim this will allow them to analyse their operations, learn environmental patterns and plan for future legislative requirements.
For example, by assigning different carbon footprints to various methods of transport, users will be able to weigh up both the financial and environmental costs of the various freight modes.
