SIEMENS Drive Technologies has highlighted their integrated drive packages for the graphics industry and modular automation solutions for printing machines.
According to the company, modular software and integrated communications solutions shorten the time to market for machine manufacturers. Automation and drive solutions are said to be the basis of future-oriented and productive machines for sheet or web-fed printing and for processing printed material.
Systems based on the Sinamics range of drives as well as motion control solutions with Profinet are available for the print and graphics industry. These technologies can be integrated into the Simotion controller without requiring additional hardware.
Profinet with Industrial Realtime is suitable as an integrated communications solution for multi-axis applications such as illustration and newspaper rotary offset machines. It can coordinate up to 80 axes. The axes are distributed on axis networks with Simotion D and Sinamics, and communication is enabled over IRT Profinet. The system can also be used for diagnostics.
The Siemens range is supplemented by water-cooled and air-cooled servomotors as well as linear and torque motors.
