SSI SCHAEFER International has released a fully-automated case-picking system at CeMAT 2008.

According to the company, its Schaefer Case Picking (SCP) system can automatically select, palletise and stretch-wrap stable, cube-optimised, mixed-case pallets.

It uses a simple linear process to manage specific pallet parameters, and the manufacturer claims the picking process is highly efficient.

The company also claims the fully automated process can reduce cycle times, reduce labour costs, minimise product damage, reduce energy consumption and palletise orders at 750 cases per hour per workstation.

The system has integrated pack-optimisation software which statistically builds volume-optimised stable and family-group related pallets through the use of robotics technology.

The modular and scalable SCP can be used for multiple steps of the process, from goods receiving, de-palletising, buffering, order-picking, sequencing and customer specific palletising to the goods issuing department.
