FARO has launched the Photon 120 and Photon 20 3D phase-shift laser scanners which generate detailed 3D replicas of complex environments and geometries.

According to FARO, the Photon 120 and Photon 20 3D laser scanners are suited for architecture, tunnel, mining, foundry, process and piping, shipbuilding, and forensics applications.

Both of the Photon 3D laser scanners have measuring rates of up to 976,000 points per second. The Photon 120 has an operating range of 153m. According to FARO, this makes it the longest-range phase-shift laser scanner in the world.

The FARO Photon 3D laser scanners use non-contact laser technology to re-create the real world and define it within a virtual space. FARO claims resulting images are collections of millions of 3D measurements, providing an accurate digital representation of as-built or as-is conditions.

FARO's Australian distributor is Hi-Tech Metrology.
