BECKHOFF Automation has released the TwinCAT Kinematic Transformation software, allowing the integration of robots into its automation software suite.
The TwinCAT Kinematic Transformation software is compatible with most types of robotics like delta kinematics and SCARA, integrating them and their interaction or synchronisation with existing motion control functions.
According to Beckhoff Automation, this unites PLC, motion control, HMI and robotics on one hardware and software platform to achieve, dispensing with the need for additional robot CPUs.
Beckhoff Automation claims the TwinCAT Kinematic Transformation software reduces engineering costs, and eliminates the need for complex communication between CPUs.
Robotic and motion control functions can be synchronised using TwinCAT NC PTP (point-to-point axis positioning) or NC I (axis interpolation in three dimensions).
Beckhoff Automation says the TwinCAT Kinematic Transformation software is suitable for material handling and packaging industries. It caters for NC characteristics, such as ‘cam plate’ or ‘flying saw’, which are used for robot synchronisation with conveyor belts for picking and placing workpieces.
